I read recently that a great way to stave off the winter blues is to plant herb seeds. There is something about seeing seedlings grow into plants that lifts the spirits. How timely then, is the recent article in Herb Companion about creating an All Season Herb Garden.
The author, Barbara Pleasant, talks about the different herbs that are inherent to each season. She recommends ordering unique seeds during the winter months, things you won’t find in stores. One resource for ordering herb seeds is Companion Plants. They offer 600 varieties of common and exotic herb plants and seeds. Their catalog is sorted both by the botanical name and their common name.
Bottom line – the winter months are still viable for getting dirt under your finger nails and enjoying the growth of new plants.
